Resulting from a major legislative project dubbed the “Decent Work Agenda”, Law 13/2023 was published on 3 April, with most of its dispositions in force since 1 May. Among the new changes, we explore several that deserve to be highlighted for their especially innovative nature, and/or practical and immediate impact.

End-of-contract compensation

Employers will now face increased costs upon contract termination – bringing the law closer in line to rules in force in Portugal before the memorandum of understanding with the IMF and the ECB in May 2011.
