An update to Pakistan’s workplace harassment law not only strengthens the protections afforded to female employees, but enables more workers, including transgender employees, to lodge complaints if they are harassed at work. Legal experts say the amended law will make the workplace safer for all employees.
The Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace (Amendment) Act, 2022, came into force last month, and “marks an important step in strengthening and increasing the ambit” of the weaker 2010 law, said the country’s Ministry of Human Rights.
