Celebrating the 244th anniversary of America’s first whistleblower legislation, Sunday 30 July was National Whistleblower Appreciation Day. To understand the origins of arguably the world’s first whistleblower protection law, you have to go back to 1777 when ten American sailors and marines reported the torture of British prisoners of war by a superior and well-connected officer in the Continental Navy.
