As the world celebrates International Women’s Day, numerous studies show that despite decades of efforts to promote gender equality and equity, on average women are still paid less, face significant barriers to career advancement, and work under conditions and policies that are neither fair nor equitable.
Although many employers have implemented policies and initiatives aimed at including women in the workplace, progress has nonetheless been uneven and slow, with the focus tending to lean towards big ticket issues such as representation rather than equality or equity.
