A social worker who crossed professional boundaries by giving gifts to a child she was responsible for was not unfairly dismissed, the UK’s Employment Appeal Tribunal ruled in November last year. However, judges confirmed that criticism of the employee’s decision to “mask” her autism constituted an act of harassment by the employer.
