Goldman Sachs has reached a settlement in a long-running lawsuit, just weeks before it was set to go to trial. The US bank will pay $215m to current and former female employees for alleged discriminatory practices involving pay and promotions.

The settlement covers around 2,800 women who have held associate or vice-president positions at the bank’s US investment banking, investment management, and securities divisions from July 2002 until late March this year.
