Egypt’s parliament is intensively discussing a new draft labour law, which would replace the current labour law no. 12 of 2003. An approved initial draft appears to be catching up with recent developments in the employment field, and adapting the legislation to the social and economic changes that Egypt has experienced of late. Meanwhile, the Minister of Labour confirmed that the draft conforms with international labour standards and treaties to which Egypt is a party.
