Bangladesh needs to implement an effective industrial and enterprise safety framework following a massive fire and subsequent explosions which killed dozens of people and injured hundreds, the International Labour Organization (ILO) has said.

At least 40 people died and more than 200 were injured when a blaze triggered explosions at the BM Container Depot in south-eastern Bangladesh at the weekend. The fire spread to chemical containers nearby, engulfing firemen and others who had rushed to the scene to help.
