Biden administration launches crackdown on child labour violations
President Biden’s administration has vowed to crack down on child labour offences after federal investigations determined that more than 3,800 children had been working for US businesses last year.
Among the new measures announced, a new interagency taskforce has been launched to combat child exploitation, along with a new national strategic enforcement initiative. The data-led initiative will allow the US Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division to undertake investigations where child labour violations are most likely to occur.
