Phil Linnard advises across all aspects of employment and incentives. His employment practice focuses on arrangements for the appointment and termination of senior executives of listed and non-listed companies, other sensitive employment issues including whistleblowing, terminations of employees in difficult circumstances, discrimination matters and the conduct of senior employees within the UK and overseas.

Phil has significant experience advising clients on the conduct of workplace investigations. He has recently advised a global banking and financial services company, a FTSE 100 company, an international healthcare services company and a listed engineering company on their investigations of suspected employee misconduct.
Besides his advisory work, Phil also advises regularly on the employment aspects of M&A transactions, company reorganisations, and other commercial contracts.

Phil’s incentives work involves advising on the corporate governance aspects of executive remuneration, as well as the drafting, implementation and operation of equity and cash incentives plans for listed and non-listed companies.

Phil is recognised as a Next Generation Partner in the Employee Share Schemes section of Legal 500 (2022).

Phil is also a member of the Corporate and Regulatory Committee of the Share Plan Lawyers Group, and an active member of the Employment Lawyers Association.

“Phil Linnard is really pragmatic and thoughtful. His broad-brush corporate and commercial background has meant he can not only advise on really difficult and sensitive employment law issues, but he can also anticipate broader company issues and find good, sensible, solutions." (Legal 500 2021)
