A group of US Senators has proposed legislation that would ban states from implementing laws that prevent workers from unionising. The “Nationwide Right To Unionize Act” was previously proposed in 2017 and 2020 as the “Protecting Workers and Improving Labor Standards Act”.
The bill aims to repeal ‘right-to-work’ laws enacted in 27 states. These laws prevent unions from collecting dues from non-union members who are covered under a union-negotiated contract.
