The US government has called on China to end its abuses of the predominantly Muslim Uighurs and members of other ethnic and religious minority groups in Xinjiang, as well as its use of these groups for forced labour throughout the country.

The call comes after a new report from the International Labour Organization, published last Wednesday, expressed “deep concern” regarding Beijing’s policies towards the Uighur and other mostly Muslim minorities in China.
