Singapore has launched a new code of practice on workplace safety in a bid to get companies to improve safety culture, after a continued increase in workplace deaths.

The code aims to force businesses to prioritise safety, and will hold management responsible when they do not. So far this year, there have been 37 fatalities at workplaces – the same number as the whole of 2021. In the first half of 2022, there were 28 workplace fatalities, which was up from 23 in the same period of last year.
