Broadly, attitudes towards diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in Europe and the United States are relatively sophisticated. There is often a high degree of legal protection for employees with protected characteristics, such as gender, age, race, disability, sexual orientation). Culturally, public opinion is supportive of the promotion of diversity and inclusion and an employer is likely to be able to – and be encouraged to – implement a wide variety of DEI initiatives within a European or US-based workforce. As such DEI remains a key area of focus for employers in 2022.
