As more and more countries study the feasibility of a four-day work week, Belgium’s coalition government has put forward a package of labour market reforms ensuring all employees have the right to a shorter working week.

The plans to transform Belgium’s labour law, first announced in February, had stalled of late after trade bodies and unions failed to reach a consensus on the government’s proposals.
