Zambelli & Partners

Emerging boutique

Italy

Overview

Launched in February 2022, the three-partner boutique led by managing partner Angelo Zambelli is already a go-to firm in Italy” for some clients.

The firm has become a key point of contact for major international advisers seeking assistance with matters in Italy.

In addition, the team is the Italian member of the L&E Global alliance, allowing it an international reach.

Alberto Testi is another name to note.

Specialisms

The firms broad capabilities extend from policy drafting through to litigation, including stock option plans and other forms of employee incentives.

Notably, the team offers significant expertise in workforce restructuring and reduction plans. The firm’s strengths in this space were demonstrated in the advice led by partner Barbara Grasselli to Halldis in the context of its bankruptcy, impacting 50 members of staff.

Labour relations are another key area of activity. For example, a team led by Zambelli assisted Theramex in negotiations with its internal works council and external trade unions, including to establish a company-level collective agreement relating to performance bonuses.

Contentious work for the team includes advising household names, as well as senior executives, for which the group has experience at all levels of the judicial process, including before the Supreme Court. A standout example of work in this space was the instruction by L'Oréal Italia on a dispute after a commercial agent claimed damages for the alleged violation of exclusive rights.

Aside from employer-side representation, the firm is also able to act for senior executives. This ability was demonstrated in advice to a senior member of management at UniCredit on an exit package.
