Specialisms

The department is regularly appointed to advise on a broad spectrum of employment law issues, including data privacy and remote working arrangements.

In particular, the group is retained by clients to support with ongoing and one-off HR concerns. For example, the team regularly advises the Turkish subsidiary of Discovery Corporate Services on changes to working conditions, remote working agreements, and terminations.

Another key client of the firm’s is the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) Turkey, which the group advises on immigration – including obtaining work and residence permits for foreign employees.

A major area of activity is in corporate transactions. In the past year, the team has advised polymer manufacturer Avient Corporation on Turkish employment law issues relating to its acquisition of DSM Protective Materials.

In another example, Huhtamäki Holding instructed the group to assist with the employment elements of its 100% purchase of shares in Elif Holding and several subsidiaries, including in Egypt and Switzerland, for $422m.

Further areas of activity include unfair dismissal claims, relations with trade unions and collective bargaining negotiations, and employee incentives.
