On 13 April, 40-year-old Joel Cauchi walked into a Sydney shopping centre and stabbed five women and a man to death before being shot dead by police. The attack also left eight people injured including a nine-month-old baby whose mother was among the dead.
Also among the dead were two Westfield Bondi Junction workers; retail worker Dawn Singleton and security guard Faraz Tahir, a Pakistani refugee who died protecting others at the scene.
