British unions slam Labour for “rowing back” new deal for workers

A draft version of the UK Labour Party’s New Deal for Workers has outraged British trade unions, who accuse the party of watering down its pledges on workers’ rights.

Unite, Labour’s single biggest donor in the past decade, recently warned the party that it would divert funds currently earmarked for election campaigning should they drift too far from their pledges, stressing that any form of backtracking would be a “red line” for union members.
