In one of several recent clarifications, the UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has clarified that hiring workers who have broken Emirati labour regulations in the past is a violation of local law.
Confirming that companies caught doing so are facing fines of between AED50,000 and AED200,000 (£10,700 to £43,000), this is the latest in a series of MoHRE declarations that may signal a renewed vigour to enforce employment law in the gulf state.
