The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has filed a racial discrimination lawsuit against ExxonMobil for its alleged improper response to the display of several hangman’s nooses at a Louisiana petrochemical plant.
In January 2020, a black employee found a noose at the Baton Rouge complex. The EEOC alleges that – at the time of the employee’s complaint – ExxonMobil was already aware of three other such incidents at the site, dating back to 2016.
