The UK’s GMB union filed an employment claim against Amazon on Friday, accusing the retail giant of union-busting tactics ahead of a landmark union recognition election at its Coventry warehouse.
The tribunal claim comes a week after the Central Arbitration Committee (CAC) ruled in favour of the GMB’s application for a union recognition vote at Amazon’s BHX4 location.
If 40% of the more than 3,000 workers on site vote for the GMB, Amazon would be required to bargain with a union over pay and conditions for the first time in the UK.
